A popular television show takes a look at wine experts and other food and drink news

‘Adam Ruins Everything’ takes on snooty wine experts - On the latest episode of "Adam Ruins Everything," host Adam Conover takes on so-called "wine experts." In Zap2it's exclusive sneak peek, watch as some unwitting restaurant customers struggle to choose a wine, with actor John Michael Higgins standing in as the snooty wine connoisseur. In the "wine pranks" segment, wine experts were fooled by testing two different wines that were actually the same wine -- the white wine was simply dyed red.

In 'Soda Politics,' Big Soda At Crossroads Of Profit And Public Health

The New Caribbean Food Movement - ... the next place to spark New York City’s culinary interest may just be the Caribbean, a catchall term for the islands of the West Indies and the Caribbean Sea, as well as coastal countries like Belize and Guyana. ... Caribbean food is a fusion of influences that may include plantains, okra and rice from African slaves; stir-fries and soy sauce from Chinese migrant workers; pork in all forms from Spanish colonists; puff pastry from the French; and myriad curries and flatbreads delivered with indentured servants from India.

Meat as a Cause of Cancer - New York Times editorial: The latest cancer report from the World Health Organization provides persuasive evidence that eating meat can cause cancer, but the risk is very small for most people.

#FreeBacon topic sizzles on social media after WHO meat report

Wolf Blass rails against Woolies, Coles - The man behind the brand, which is one of Treasury Wine Estates best performers alongside Penfolds, can't believe the two majors now hold a combined 70 per cent. Mr Blass says the vertical integration of both Woolworths and Coles' liquor businesses, where they source bulk wine for their own home brands that have now reached a combined 18 per cent of the overall market on some estimates, is distorting the $4 billion wine sector. He says tougher labelling laws are needed so customers can clearly see if they are buying a private label brand.

Coles, Woolies accused of 'decimating' wine industry

Penfolds Grange 'very ordinary' this year, Perth wine seller tells punters - Grand Cru Wine Shop managing director Vince Salpietro firmly believes consumers can find better wines that are far cheaper than the nation's best-known luxury tipple. Mr Salpietro has taken the extraordinary step of paying for a half-page advertisement in The West Australian newspaper rubbishing the price Penfolds is charging for this year's vintage. The ad features a photo of Mr Salpietro pouring a bottle of wine on to the floor of his wine cellar. He said he needed to empty two bottles to complete the photo shoot.

Police catch speeding hearse full of caviar - A speeding hearse stopped by traffic police in Russia's far east was found to be packed with half a tonne (1,100lb) of caviar.

Adelaide food trucks restrictions disappoint South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill - The South Australian Government will look at ways to overrule Adelaide City Council's decision to limit the number of food vans in the city. On Tuesday night, the council voted to limit the number of food trucks allowed to operate in Adelaide's CBD to 10 during the day. Adelaide City Council has been grappling with its food van policy after coming under increasing pressure from "bricks and mortar" businesses who claimed they were doing it tough.
